Stay safe on Pitu.lk
Most people are honest. These habits protect you from the few who are not.
For buyers
- Meet in a busy public place in daylight, and bring someone with you for big purchases.
- Inspect the item before you pay. Never send an advance or “booking fee”.
- Vehicles: check the CR book, chassis and engine numbers, and confirm ownership with the RMV.
- Land and houses: see the deeds and a recent extract from the Land Registry, and use your own lawyer.
- If a price looks too good to be true, it usually is.
For sellers
- Never share OTP codes, PINs or online banking passwords — no genuine buyer needs them.
- Do not hand over the item until the money is really in your account (not just a screenshot).
- Be careful with overpayments and “courier will collect” stories.
Auctions
Pitu.lk never holds money. When an auction ends we email the winner and the seller each other’s details — complete the sale in person, with the same care as any other deal.
